For the first time, we reported the facile synthesis of semiconducting manganese vanadate Mn(VO3)2 nanostructure using manganese(II) chloride dihydrate and ammonium metavanadate as the starting reagent in presence of different surfactants such as sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide and polyethylene glycol through precipitation methods. As-prepared products were characterized using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy. The photocatalytic activity of Mn(VO3)2 nanostructures were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange in aqueous solution under UV light irradiation. According to the vibrating sample magnetometer, manganese vanadate (Mn(VO3)2) nanostructure indicated a paramagnetic behavior at room temperature.
