This paper presents corn husk-based microwave absorber along with the enhancement of microwave absorption performance by adding a different percentage of charcoal in the frequency range of 1–20 GHz. The open-ended coaxial probe method is used to measure the S 11 parameter, and also dielectric properties of the samples. The computer simulation technology microwave studio (CST MWS) is used to design the proposed microwave absorber. The result shows that the sample with the utmost charcoal content (4.44 wt%) poses the best return loss value of − 50.2696 dB at 19.221 GHz frequency.
