Journals are often organized within specialty disciplines, compartmentalizing information exchange by various fields of specialty. In themidst of such successful journals, there is also an important role for unifying, interdisciplinary publications, often reporting on advances presented at conferences with similar motivations, where specialists can have exposure to more diverse fields, and a chance to experience advances near and also further away from their own, individual areas of research. In this way, the impact of new advances can reach and benefit researchers in a far broader range of scientific fields. In the above spirit, this special issue of the Journal of Mathematical Chemistry has been motivated by the 18th International Conference on Computational and Mathematical Methods in Science and Engineering (CMMSE 2018), where one of the original purposes of the conference has been to serve as a catalyst for developments of computational mathematics approaches and cutting edge applications in Chemistry and Chemical engineering. Articles have been received from authors belonging to various, multidisciplinary teams composed by mathematicians, supercomputing experts, and specialists in one or several areas between chemistry, physics, engineering, or numerical analysis. As usual, the acceptance criteria for all papers have been the quality and originality of the research based on the reports of at least two referees, and the significance of the papers to the readership of this journal. We cordially invite you to read various papers in this special issue of JOMC, even some of those papers whichmay not belong strictly to your own field of specialization; in fact, it is the hope of the Editors that some of these works may stimulate further advances, precisely by the interdisciplinary aspects which have served as motivation for this very collection of papers. Please enjoy it. Professor Jesus Vigo-Aguiar, Guest Editor.
