In this work, we have investigated the microscopic magnetic properties of c-axis oriented hcp-CoIr soft magnetic thin films (SMTFs) by using Mössbauer spectroscopy. We have found that the deviation of magnetic moments from the film plane slowly increases with increasing film thickness due to perpendicular magnetic anisotropy coming from the film growth procedure. Our results also suggest that optimizing the growth conditions at the initial stage of the film growth should be very important to further reduce this deviation. These results will be beneficial for further improving the soft magnetic properties of these SMTFs for functional electronic devices.
