On the proposal of the board of directors of the ESTAC (European Symposium on Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry) conference, a new prize was created entitled ‘‘Judit Simon ESTAC Award’’ for recognition of those under 40 who achieved outstanding results in the field of thermal analysis and calorimetry. The prize was awarded for the first time at ESTAC 12, Brasov, August 27–30, 2018, and it was handed over personally by Judit Simon to an Italian researcher, Giuseppe Lazzara. The foundation of this award is also a tribute to Judit Simon’s scientific, domestic and international science organizing activity, to her support young researchers, and especially to the Editor-in-Chief of the English-language international journal founded by her in 1969—so in 2019 fifty-year-old—the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry.
