We analyze the compression and shear of an elastic strip weakened by a semiinfinite crack on the boundary of this strip and a rigid wall. The crack is completely closed, and its faces are under the conditions of friction sliding. By the Wiener–Hopf method, we obtain an analytic solution of the problem. The distributions of normal and tangential stresses on the crack line and on its continuation are determined. The stress intensity factor in shear is also obtained.
