The conference “Best Available Techniques in the Blast-Furnace Production” was organized by the “Russkaya Stal” Trade Association, the International Union of Blast-Furnace Experts, and the “Metals of Eurasia” journal under the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and held on October 23–24, 2019. The first day of the conference took place in Moscow and, on the second day, the participants of the conference visited the “Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works” PJSC, which demonstrated, parallel with other things, contemporary engineering solutions realized at the Sintering Plant No. 5, which was put into operation in 2019. The role of moderators of the scientific sessions was played by the leading experts in the field of the sintering and blast-furnace production, including S. A. Zagainov, Chief Blast-Furnace Engineer of the “NLMK” PJSC, А. А. Tretyak, President of the International Union of Blast-Furnace Experts, Yu. P. Mishin Vice–President of the “Chermet” Corp., and Yu. P. Lazutkin, Engineering Vice President of the “MetProm” Group of Companies.
