The problem of selecting a coordinate transformation matrix (CTM) for the $$H_{\infty }$$H∞ static-output-feedback control of two-dimensional discrete systems in the FM second model is an unsolved open problem. This brief aims to solve the problem. First, a cone complementarity linearization method is used to choose an initial CTM. Then, an iterative strategy is employed to optimize the choice of the CTM. A Numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
