This paper presents performance evaluation of the mary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM). BER performance is evaluated on operation of The Binary coding, The Gray coding, Pulse shaping in raised cosine filter and Error correction using convolution codes. Simulation results shows the BER and SNR of M-QAM (M = 16, 64, 256 and 1024) for oversampling factor 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. BER and SNR is related to spectral efficiency (SE) i.e. SE is the optimize use of spectrum for highest quantity of information can be transmitted with the least transmission errors. SNR and BER will increase as order of QAM increases. Improvement in BER shows that the increment in the number of errors.
