We read with great interest the article by Zhou et al., in which the authors demonstrated (Zhou et al. 2021) the correlation between “Antibiotic exposure and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus: a systematic review and meta-analysis” in the “Environmental Science and Pollution Research”. The authors have intended to investigate the relation between exposure to antibiotics and the incidence of diabetes, but there are some methodological concerns in their research. Since this article’s result has a wide implication and might be influential on clinical decision making, we present some methodological comments in the two following sections.
