Dr. Yi-Han Chen is an excellent cardiologist and a medical scientist. Through more than two decades of clinical and biomedical research work, he has made remarkable achievements in regards to treatment and pathogenesis of cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure, and was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015 because of his outstanding contributions. Dr. Yi-Han Chen received his bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine from Medical School of Nantong University, in 1987. He then joined the affiliated hospital of Nantong University, as a resident physician in the department of cardiology, and received his MS degree five years later in this university. In 1996, Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. degree in cardiology from Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and successively worked as a cardiologist in the department of cardiology in the Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji University until 2010. Dr. Chen is currently a professor and director in the department of cardiology in the East Hospital affiliated to Tongji University. During his clinical practices in cardiology, Dr. Chen has been focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure, and leading a group carrying out a series of projects in the field of cardiology, with special emphasis on the explorations of novel molecular mechanisms and pharmacological targets beyond the traditional concepts.
