INTRODUCTION The Medicare population comprises 60 million Americans, many of whom are the most vulnerable people susceptible to COVID-19 mortality. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine recommended targeting high-risk individuals including older individuals in the early stages of a national vaccine rollout. In this study, we identify Medicare beneficiaries at high risk for COVID-19 mortality, and characterize primary care providers who serve these beneficiaries.
