Endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) is an extremely rare (<10%) mal ignancy of female reproductive system. The diagnosis of ESS is mainly depended on the morphology and immunohistochemistry techniques. On the basis of mitotic index, it has been classifi ed into two categories: lowand high-grade ESS. The management of ESS includes surgical resection with or without adjuvant therapy. Up to now, the best therapy for ESS is still surgical resection, including hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooopherectomy. Whether adjuvant treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy can increase survival of patients is still debatable so far.
