In this study, two isothermal sections of the Nb-V-Al ternary system at 1100 and 1200 °C were experimentally investigated by means of back-scattered electron, electron probe microanalysis and x-ray diffraction. The determined isothermal sections at both 1100 and 1200 °C consist of five three-phase regions and ten two-phase regions, without any ternary compounds. The (Nb, V) phase forms a large continuous solid solution. The solubility of V in NbAl3 and Nb2Al phase is large, whereas the solubility of Nb in the VAl3 and V5Al8 phase is small.
