Phase relationships in the Nd - Ce - Fe ternary system at 773 K have been investigated mainly by x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with energy disperse spectroscopy techniques. The isothermal section consists of 6 single-phase regions, 7 two-phase regions and 3 three-phase regions. No ternary compound is observed in this system. Nd 2 Fe 17 and Ce 2 Fe 17 are found to form a continuous solid solution (Nd,Ce) 2 Fe 17 , and the solubilities of Ce in Nd 5 Fe 17 and Nd in CeFe 2 are determined.
