Postoperative bleeding, either intraluminal or intraperitoneal, is one of themost frequent and feared complications after bariatric surgery. It usually occurs in the earlier postoperative period. Digestive bleeding later than 30 days after surgery is rare. Pseudoaneurysms of the gastroduodenal artery (GDA) represent 1.5% of reported visceral aneurysms [1]. Their etiology has not been well defined. Their most frequent association is with acute pancreatitis, and it has also been reported after pancreatic and gastric surgery [2]. Due to their rarity they are difficult to diagnose and they usually manifest themselves through a lifethreatening hemorrhagic shock due to acute rupture. We hereby present the first published case series of this complication after hypoabsorptive bariatric surgery in a single high-volume hospital, with an experience of 596 laparoscopic duodenal switch (DS) and single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADI-S) cases operated over more than 10 years.
