This work introduces design and fabrication of a novel intelligent management and control system to optimize the energy consumption in indoor swimming pools. The proposed strategy constantly monitors effective parameters on the energy consumption of pool including relative humidity, water temperature, and ambient temperature by sensors and decides and executed commands to different components of the swimming pool to achieve optimal conditions. Two different scenarios were considered to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach. In the first scenario, the suggested system was applied to the pool during a full day, and the energy consumption was compared to the conventional system. In the second one, the natural gas and electricity billing information was collected over a few months for the conventional and proposed systems. The experimental results indicated that the proposed system reduced natural gas and electrical energy consumption by 15.1 and 11% compared to the conventional system, respectively.
