In order to further study the performance of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) structures under seismic conditions, three UHPC short columns confined with high-strength reinforcement were tested alongside one UHPC short column confined with normal-strength reinforcement and one reinforced UHPC short column confined with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP). The results show that high-strength reinforcement improved the ductility and energy-absorbing ability of the UHPC columns. In addition, high-strength reinforcement only made a marginal difference to stiffness degeneration but did contribute to the specimen’s initial stiffness; both high axial loads and small shear span ratios accelerated stiffness degeneration.
