Cardiac 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18-FDG PET) can image inflammatory infiltration from cardiac sarcoidosis and/or atherosclerosis. Whole-body 18-FDG PET is also routinely used to augment the sensitivity of traditional CT scanning in staging lymphoma. Identification of extra-nodal disease is an important prognostic indicator for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). At autopsy, up to 20% of patients with NHL have cardiac involvement yet this is infrequently detected during life. We describe a case of cardiac diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) with an unusual presentation and tragic conclusion.
