Endomyocardial biopsy may secure the diagnosis of myocarditis. Apart from its invasiveness, however, because of the patchy nature of the inflammatory infiltrates, it suffers in sensitivity. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is regarded a powerful noninvasive modality for detecting myocarditis. However, late gadolinium enhancement findings alone, in most of the cases, are associated with a drop in diagnostic accuracy.
