Thin film nanocomposites of sodium silicate (80 SiO2 –20 Na2O)/ tartrazine dye (E102) prepared using sol gel process in acidic system. The change in the physicochemical properties for the gel-glass systems had been strongly effect on the studied properties. The sol-gel nanocomposites were prepared from TEOS (tetraethylorthosilicate) as a source (SiO2) mixed with H2O /ethyl alcohol in acid- hydrolysis process. The structure evolution during the lower range of calcinations temperatures in gel– sodium silicate–based ternary system modified with (E102) samples were carried out using both of XRD, TEM and FTIR methods. The optical measurements such as optical reflectance and optical transmittance were carried out. The direct and indirect energy gap of these samples was determined using optical transmittance and reflectance. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra for the prepared thin film samples were investigated.
