Poly(N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide) was synthesized for the selective solid-phase extraction (SPE) and determination of artemisinin in ethanolic extract of five different Artemisia species of Iran, including A. annua, A. aucheri, A. vulgare, A. sieberi and A. scoporia using LC–MS. Artemisinin is a natural product which is used as an anti-malarial drug. The limit of detection of artemisinin was as low as 0.0028 μg mL−1, while the linear range of the analyses was 0.031–5 μg mL−1, with a coefficient of variation of 0.999. The intraday and interday relative standard deviations (RSD%) and the relative recovery (R%) of the method were favorable in comparison with other analytical methods previously reported.
