In this paper, several new estimates of the minimum H-eigenvalue for weakly irreducible nonsingular $$\mathcal {M}$$M-tensors, including the new Brauer-type estimates and the new S-type estimates, are derived. It is proved that the new estimates are tighter than some existing ones and numerical examples are given to verify this fact. The other main result of this paper is to provide a sharper Ky Fan-type theorem which is better than the original Ky Fan theorem for the nonsingular $$\mathcal {M}$$M-tensors.
