Abstract Determination of the parameters of a tested fuel assembly during in-pile irradiation in research reactors is important for interpretation of its behavior in the test conditions. The method for determining the energy parameters of fuel assemblies placed in a pulse research reactor during pulse tests was developed and examined in a series of in-pile experiments. The proposed method is based on the solution of the thermal balance equation for quasiregular mode of heat exchange and the relation between thermophysical and energy parameters of the tested fuel assemblies. Results of supporting in-pile experiments show that the method made it possible to improve the quality of the determination of the energy parameters of pulse tests.
