s Appetite 169 (2022) 105483 indicated that interoceptive awareness was correlated with mindfulness; high trait SR predicted PS which was mediated by mindful eating. High scores on MEQ disinhibition (knowing when to stop eating) correlated with DFA; however, this relationship was not mediated by interoceptive awareness. Overall, while SR may be a highly heritable trait and difficult to modify, mindfulness is teachable with potential to prevent overeating in those with weak SR.
