Abstract In the commented paper, M. Ally and V. Sharma model a version of an ammonia water absorption heat pump. At the core of their model, they assume that an evaporator outlet quality of 1 is required for the heat pump to operate. In the present comment, we discuss a more appropriate modeling approach which assumes a small fixed glide across the evaporator. This assumption is supported by prior work, real world controls and thermodynamic practicality. This change in assumption would lead to final results and conclusions that are opposite to those made in the commented paper.
