Abstract This review summarizes results from the literature concerning the synthesis and chemical reactivity of 4-hydroxy-2(1 H )-quinolone as well as its reactions that are reported. Most imaginable reaction types have been successfully applied and used, as many of the synthetized compounds exhibit interesting biological activity in various fields.
