Abstract In the present study, the optimization of hyperthermia treatment via Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) direct injection using heuristic algorithms is conducted. The particles mass transfer in addition to the dual phase lag (DPL) bioheat equation are solved using implicit finite different scheme to capture the temperature variations due to sever heat generation at early stages. To examine the capability and accuracy of the proposed algorithm three different tumor configurations are considered and the multi-site injection properties including number of infusions, location and time duration of injection(s) and MNP dosage is determined. According to the results, for primitive tumor shapes a tradeoff between accuracy and MNP consumption should be accounted, while 4-point injection provides the desired temperature pattern for complex tumor distributions.
