Highlights • Antimicrobial properties of C. sinensis and T. arjuna against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, C. albicans determined.• MIC values of these plants extract ranged from 6.25 to 12.5 mg/ml.• Both extracts had bacteriostatic effects as evidenced by higher values of MBC than MIC.• GC–MS analysis of C. sinensis and T. arjuna extract revealed 13 and 21 components, respectively.
