Abstract Camellia-like WO 3 ·0.33H 2 O composed of nanosheets were successfully synthesized by the EDTA-assisted hydrothermal method. We find that the WO 3 ·0.33H 2 O of hierarchical architectures is assembled by a number of regular-shaped nanosheets, which are cross-linked in the interior of the micro-camellia. A possible formation mechanism is proposed, based on the nucleation and self-assembly process. Moreover, the products exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity and take possession of good stability and reusability under visible light.
