Abstract Here, we report a reversible, thermo-responsive polymer-ceramic composite membrane that achieves opening and closing of pores by itself. This novel composite membrane was prepared by coating the polymer poly (2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) on ceramic membrane using the dip coating technique. Different parameters such as polymer concentration and dip coating time were considered while preparing the membrane. Special emphasis has been laid down on an extensive study of the physical and chemical properties of the membrane. Temperature responsiveness was utilized for studying the variation in water flux and protein rejection. It was found that at temperatures above LCST the flux achieved was highest at about 5.58 × 10 3 L/h m 2 than at temperatures below LCST.
