Abstract Diagnosis and imaging play an essential key role in primary detection, screening, and image-guided smart nanomedicine for healthcare solutions. This study illustrates the successful fabrication of luminescent lanthanide (erbium)-doped hydroxyapatite (Er-HAp) by one step facile wet-chemical precipitation method. The chemical compositions, morphology, optical, and biological properties were systematically characterized using relevant different structural, compositional analytical instrumentation and cytotoxicity assays. After erbium doping, synthesized luminescent nano-structured materials exhibited elongated morphology, with well dispersed
