Abstract CaMnSi2O6 ceramic was synthesized via a conventional solid-state sintering route. XRD results suggested that a pure triclinic phase bustamite with P−1 space group was formed, which was further verified by TEM analysis. XPS spectroscopy was measured to identify chemical state. The effects of porosity on permittivity and dielectric loss were investigated by spherical-pores models. It was found that the existence of high porosity led to lower er and less degrading Qf values.
