He subsequently undertook a postdoctoral fellowship under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Hecht at Humboldt University in Berlin, where he worked on the electrochemistry of azobenzene systems and light-responsive metal-organic frameworks. During his stay, he was awarded fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Daimler and Benz Foundation and was a delegate to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in 2017.
