The stability of ultrathin nanomaterials with high reductivity remains a great challenge. In this issue of Chem, Sun and colleagues present a novel strategy for oxygen passivation to prepare sub-2-nm-thick aluminum (Al) nanosheets, which remain stable even in oxygen-rich atmosphere.
