INTRODUCTION: Lung abscess is defined as necrosis of the pulmonary parenchyma caused by microbial infection that are usually polymicrobial infections caused by bacteria that colonize the oral cavity. Usual course includes a prolonged course of antibiotics and in rare cases, need chest tube and rarely, surgical therapy. In this case, we were able to catch the pre and post sequelae of a large lung abscess that would have ended up needing surgical drainage based on size and extent but ended up self draining and patient expectorating large volume of the abscess content.
