Abstract This paper investigates the dynamics of cylindrical collapse with perfect fluid distribution in the background of curvature-matter coupled gravity. Using Misner-Sharp technique, we construct dynamical equations which lead to analyze the effects of correction terms and fluid parameters on the collapse process. A correlation between correction terms, fluid parameters and the Weyl scalar is also formulated. In the case of constant f ( G , T ) model, it is concluded that homogeneity of energy density yields the conformal flatness and vice-versa. We find that the collapse rate is reduced due to anti-gravitational behavior of the correction terms.
