Abstract A model of cell membrane as a viscous plate is studied. It is subjected to an ultrasonic field. The influence of the field on the membrane is compared for two cases: purely viscous plate and plate containing gold nanoparticles. It is shown that nanoparticles lead to increasing the influence of the acoustic waves. Its impact is sensitive to membrane’s physical properties and it was observed in recent experiments. In principle, this effect can be used for selective cancer cells killing.
