Summary The successful development of analytical tools for the detection of a given target molecule at low concentrations is strongly dependent on the use of high affinity binders. To date, antibodies are widely used as capturing agents, however they suffer from some limitations. Molecularly imprinted nanoparticles are considered a promising alternative to natural binders, and their use in sensors and assays has been increasing in the past decade. Herein, we review some recent advances in electrochemical sensing based on imprinted nanoparticles, along with the latest examples of chiral imprinting.
