Abstract This paper investigates the influence of starch extracted from cassava (CA) and maize (MS) on creep of concrete. Starch extracted from the mentioned materials was used as admixture in the concrete mix. Different percentages of starch (0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) by weight of cement were used in the mix proportion for making concrete prisms for the creep set-up. The creep tests for the different concrete prisms were monitored for a period of 13 months. The results showed that concretes with starch admixtures exhibited significantly lower creep strains when compared to the reference prisms.
