Abstract The objective of this paper is to evaluate the performance of a newly developed fog seal material of Waterborne Epoxy Resin (WER) and Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) Composite Modified Emulsified Asphalt Fog Seal (WER-SCMEA Fog Seal) to overcome the intractable problems of SBR modified emulsified asphalt fog seal (SBR-Fog Seal). The process property, pavement performance and durability were investigated by a series of laboratory tests and compared with SBR-Fog Seal. Results show that the WER-SCMEA Fog Seal has good pavement performance, such as good waterproof performance. Besides, the WER-SCMEA Fog Seal has good durability, such as good water stability, wear resistance, etc. In addition, WER-SCMEA Fog Seal can improve the strength of asphalt mixture for the formation of three-dimensional network skeleton structure of curing product due to the comprehensive effects of curing reaction, physical intertwine and chemical cross-linking reaction among WER, curing agent and SBR modified emulsified asphalt. The study of this paper laid a foundation for the investigation of WER-SCMEA Fog Seal with sand.
