Abstract The present study shows that nanoporous GeO x supported Ag nanoparticle composite can be fabricated by one-pot dealloying of (Al 0.6 Ge 0.3 Mn 0.1 ) 98 Ag 2 amorphous alloy. As-melt-spun (Al 0.6 Ge 0.3 Mn 0.1 ) 98 Ag 2 precursor alloy consists of Ag 3 Al nanoparticles embedded in the amorphous matrix. Immersion of precursor alloy in 5 wt% HCl solution leads to simultaneous dealloying of amorphous matrix and Ag 3 Al nanoparticles. After dealloying process, Al and Mn atoms are almost completely dissolved out from the precursor alloy, forming a composite nanoporous structure consisting of Ag nanoparticles dispersed on nanoporous GeO x .
