Abstract In this study, the oxidation behavior of AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy powder at 900-1100 °C was first investigated and reported. The triple-phase nanostructure in the early oxidation stage is beneficial to the fast establishment of an exclusive Al2O3 scale. The AlCoCrFeNi powder exhibits the extremely low oxidation rate, the fairly high activation energy for oxidation and the relatively low residual stress in Al2O3 scale in the temperature range of 900-1100 °C. The outstanding oxidation performance of AlCoCrFeNi powder is attributed to the formation of an exclusive Al2O3 scale and the inward O diffusion mechanism.
