Abstract Specific interaction of the chloride and perchlorate ions with F127 hydrogel is studied by fluorescence correlation spectroscopy and picoseconds dynamics. An anionic dye C343 probes the hydrophilic corona while the hydrophobic dye C153 reports on the core. In the absence of salts, C343 experiences a translational viscosity of ~16 cP, which increases to ~29 cP in 1 M LiCl and ~39 cP in 1 M LiClO4. Anisotropy decays remain unaffected by salts. The perchlorate ion makes solvation dynamics at corona faster while the chloride ion has no effect. At core, the ions do not affect translational viscosity or solvation dynamics.
