Abstract A facile solid-state reaction method has been employed to synthesize pure and Fe-doped SnS2 nanopowders. The as-synthesized samples show the nanosheet morphology and polycrystalline nature, as characterized by TEM. The existence of Fe in the doped samples has been corroborated by XPS and EDS. The measurement results show that the Fe-doped SnS2 samples present weak ferromagnetic orderings in addition to enhanced paramagnetic orderings. It is deduced that the joint effect of the intralayered and interlayered Fe atoms leads to the changes in the magnetic properties. Furthermore, the enhanced magnetic properties will make Fe-doped SnS2 promising for spintronic devices application.
