Abstract Effects of erosion form, erosion age and sulfate solution concentration on compressive strength, micro structure and erosion products of concrete were investigated. The phase composition, micro structure, morphology, pore characteristic of concrete were studied by XRD, FTIR, DTA-TG, ESEM-EDS and MIP. The results indicate that the erosion form, erosion age and sulfate solution concentration play significant effects on the composition, micro structure and performance of concrete. There exists a Pearson IV function between the concrete compressive strength and sulfate solution concentration. The sulfate attack of concrete is mainly chemical erosion, and the main sulfate products are AFt and gypsum. The salt crystallizations on concrete surface are sodium sulfate, glauberite, sodium gypsum, anhydrous sodium sulfate and dihydrate gypsum.
