Abstract Simple analytical method for intramolecular looping of long chain polymer has been formulated using Smoluchowski-like equation flanked by Dirac delta function sink term of finite strength. Solution for loop closure probability has been defined in terms of Laplace Transform of the Green’s function for different end motion of the polymer, in absence of sink. Two different rate constants, the average term and the long term rate constant which vary with several parameters has been derived. Our results are in agreement with that produced by detailed operator algebra method.
