Abstract Yakar et al. (2018) investigated the optical properties of spherical quantum dot such as the oscillator strength, the static dipole polarizability and the refractive index changes as a function magnetic field strength. We studied their article and we found that there are some mistakes in their optical calculations. The selection rules on the quantum number m that they used to obtain allowed intersubband transitions are not correct. Here, we introduce the correct selection rules.
