Abstract Binding energies due to intrawell and interwell excitons are studied in the CdS/CdSe/CdS asymmetric quantum well by varying right well sizes under polaronic effect. The transition energy, transition life time, oscillator strength and absorption coefficients are measured. The above properties are obtained in the influence of image charge potential included in the Hamiltonian. The optical absorption coefficients with the function of incoming photon energy is obtained. The results bring out that the peak of absorption coefficient is larger for the direct exciton than for the indirect exciton and the radiative lifetime for the indirect exciton is found to be higher.
