Abstract The development of power monitoring equipment triggers the increase of various power grid data. As an important solution for the optimal investment decision, scenario analysis has been a hot topic in power grid planning. However, how to select the appropriate scenario optimization framework of efficiency and accuracy is still a key problem. Based on planning objectives, a new scenario optimization framework is proposed in this paper. In this framework, different from the traditional scheme, the clustering was based on the planning results of all periods in the whole planning, and the data was given by time-series simulation by establishing a planning model for each period. The framework takes photovoltaic and wind power as examples to consider the collaborative participation of renewable energy. To validate the performance of the proposed framework, IEEE 33-bus system is considered as the case study, and the results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed method.
